Obituary for Anthony E. Magliocca

Anthony E. (Tony) Magliocca of Poughkeepsie died Wednesday July 27, 2016 at the Castle Point VA Hospital. Tony was born in Staten Island, New York on February 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Michelina Devico Magliocca.

Anthony (Tony) is survived by his wife Connie (DeMatteo) of 68 years. They loved and adored each other! (7/11) They were married in Our Lady Of Peace Church in Brooklyn NY on December 13, 1948.

He is also survived by his 4 children and their spouses Frank Magliocca, Michele and Anthony Lupoli, Angelo and Anna Marie Magliocca, Madeline and Dom Letterii, 8 grandchildren Chris and Johnny Gent, Toni Ann Kocher, David, Stephen and Kristina Magliocca, Sara and Angelo Magliocca , 2 step grandchildren Jene Luciani and Patrick Lupoli , 7 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sister Antoinette Stancarone of New Jersey and brother and sister in law Victor and Ann Magliocca of Staten Island NY.

He is also survived by many special neices, nephews and cousins.

He was pre deceased by his parents Frank and Michelina (Devico) Magliocca, brother Thomas Magliocca and infant brother Umberto.

He worked for the US Postal service for 32 years, retiring in 1993. He took pride in his work as a US postal worker and all of his co-workers and patrons loved him.

He was proud to have served his country in World War II in the US Navy. He was stationed in the South Pacific on the island of Mannes on a repair ship that would fix the battle ships that were disabled in the war. He was an electrician on that ship. He received the Victory Medal and the American Theatre Medal.

His main purpose in life was his family. He loved and adored all his family and was always there to lend a helping hand. He always had a story to tell and a good joke!! You knew when he was around because he'd be whistling or jingling the change in his pocket!!

He was a proud, respectful, good hearted and kind man. He believed that family was first no matter what. He taught us good values, a good work ethic and to always be good people.

He will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

We wish to thank all of the staff at the VA Castle Point Veterans Village for the exceptional care, kindness, dignity and honor they bestowed on our dad. Also we thank the volunteer veterans for their beautiful honor escort. You all will remain forever in our hearts.


Calling hours will be held Monday August 1, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Tuesday August 2, 2016 at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish 299 Hudson View Drive Poughkeepsie, New York 12601. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie, Rural Cemetery Poughkeepsie, New York 12601.
